step 1: bring any CLEAN & DRY container (or purchase one)

We welcome any container or bottle as long as it is empty, clean & dry. This ensures there is no cross contamination of our products, reduces exposure to bacteria and gives the product a longer shelf life. The only exceptions are the household cleaners. Ask staff for details.*

step 2: a staff member will tare the container

A staff member will weigh your containers and record the tare weight. This ensures you're only paying for the weight of the contents of your container.

step 3: a staff member will fill your container

A staff member will ask which products you’re looking to have filled. Staff do all of the filling. It only takes a few minutes. In a hurry? Take advantage of our drop-off program and pick them up another time.

step 4: weigh & pay

Staff will weigh the product a final time and mark the amount in kilograms (kg). Your tare weight will be subtracted at the cash register.

Q1

CAN I FILL MY OWN CONTAINERS?

For two main reasons, we have decided that staff will refill all of your products. While it started as a temporary solution for COVID-19 restrictions, it became clear that by having staff members who are familiar with the sanitizing procedures fill the products we reduce the risk of cross-contamination of our scoops / taps / pumps etc. Secondly, it takes a bit to get familiar with our pumps and taps. (Just ask how many of us have had major messes to clean up in our first week on the job!). We want you leaving here with awesome products, not with a t-shirt covered in dish soap.

Q2

I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF PRODUCT LEFT IN MY JAR. DOES THAT MATTER?

It does matter - and it means we won't be able to fill it. When staff are not able to fill your containers because they're not clean / dry it's simply because they're ensuring that you leave here with a high quality product with the longest possible shelf life. Uncleaned containers are guaranteed to have traces of bacteria - introducing new product to the old product is going to reduce the shelf life, not to mention potentially contaminate the product on our shelves. We make exceptions for household cleaners (laundry detergent, dish soap, liquid cleaners) and hand soap. They're clean, but they're still wet. Why is that a problem? Most of our products are made with natural ingredients with little to no preservatives. Water can introduce bacteria, cause a product to go rancid and encourage mold growth.

Q3

CAN I DROP MY CONTAINERS OFF & PICK THEM UP LATER?

Absolutely! Simply check-in with a staff member so that they can make a note of what you're looking to have filled and your expected pick-up time. They'll have it all ready for you upon your return.
